Let me be the first to say thank you for this. Exciting times in Japan. Will be fascinating if Takaichi can overcome the oyaji inertia. I didn’t see much on energy policy. I think that is an enormous hindrance to any growth strategy in Japan.

Is this a Nazi or Juche manifesto? Private capital with its own metrics (what ROI? when we are building Hingoku Kyohei) and purposes - the bad guys, Japanese bureaucracy gaining even more resources over the free enterprise of Japan Inc - the good guys. Any private-public enterprise in Japan being profitable? Japan Display? What profits, when we can print money at will. The comparison with the disgraced PM Kakuei Tanaka is quite telling. He was the PM who finally got rid of the small government governance (albeit it was a result of the post-war poverty and focus on regaining sovereignty rather than a thoughtful choice) and created the current model of ever rising taxes, government spending and ever more intrusive bureaucracy. Not surprisingly - greased by corruption at the top level. It worked so well for the first years (with the taxes always coming with a lag) that he is still the most popular PM. At least until the current Evita Peron of Japan.
